The Dormant Leader – Wanting to make a difference!

ASK yourself “if this was my company I would change XYZ…..?

What would your immediate changes be?

Why would you put them in place?

Who would it benefit?

Can you share your ideas and have an opportunity to sit at the big table and have those conversations?  Have you ever been asked for your opinion?  What would hold you back?

You are wanting to drag the business forward into present day practices and be ahead of the game.  The trailblazer, breaking company records, being Usain Bolt of Business.

So how do you create changes in the company?    Are you empowered to make things happen?  If the answer is Yes, the door is always open, then fair play, you are working for a progressive business.   However, there are organisations out there that do not give their employees the opportunity to share their ideas.

Take the plunge, give some thought to these areas, and turn your ideas into action

  • Research all resources. What are your competitors doing?
  • Speak to your customers. What improvements would they like to see?
  • Surveys – gather opinion from other trusted staff members
  • Estimate how much time or money can be saved or made
  • Forecast the impact of the changes over a 3-year period
  • Do your ideas align themselves to the company vision and long-term strategy?

When you have a risk avoider in the team it’s hard to get anything new over the line…

“But we’ve always done it this way!”

“We prefer the tried and tested method.”

“Why fix something when it’s not broken?”

Just how frustrating are these sayings?  These Donny Doubters are all in their head! They won’t give way to progress; they are the warm blanket that they don’t want to give up.

Another set of questions to give some thought to…

What are the good things we do, that we must keep doing?

What are the bad things we do that we must stop doing?

What do we do occasionally that we need to do consistently?

What are the things we don’t do, that we should be doing?

These are inclusive questions that soften the suggestions of change that you might want to make.
